FAQ
Do I need a licence or experience to join?
Nope!—beginners are 100% welcome! We’ll give you a safety and operation induction and are always there to help!
How do I make a booking?
All bookings are managed through our online portal. Simply log in, choose your preferred day and time slot, and secure your booking instantly.
What if I can't make my booking?
It’s your ski! If plans change and you can’t make it then all we ask is you let us know so we can free it up for someone else
What happens after my 12-month membership ends?
At the end of the initial 12 month term, your membership rolls over to a weekly term. You can then cancel with 14 days notice.
Can I transfer or share my membership?
Memberships are non-transferable unless approved under special circumstances and are linked to your name. You can, however, bring friends or family along as passengers within safety and capacity limits.
Can I book more than one jet ski at a time?
Memberships allow one jet ski per booking. If you’d like multiple skis, you can soon hire additional skis at a discounted rate or book in a discounted tour
What times can I pick up and return a jet ski?
We offer set morning and afternoon booking slots. Pick-up and return times must be followed to keep everything running smoothly for the next member.
What happens if no jet skis are available?
We have a fleet of skis to keep up with demand. On busy weekends and holidays, we recommend booking in advance to guarantee availability. We do limit member numbers to ensure it is fair for all.
Can I pause my membership if I’m away?
Yes, we allow short-term pauses for things like extended travel or personal reasons. Just contact us in advance to arrange it.
Is fuel included in the membership?
Fuel is not included. You’ll return the jet ski with a full tank. There is fuel pumps at the marina which makes it so easy! (Currently under maintenance)
Are there any hidden or extra fees?
No hidden surprises. Your membership covers your access, but you’re responsible for fuel and any damages caused by misuse or negligence.
How often are the jet skis booked out?
While peak summer weekends can be busy, we’ve managed member numbers so you can find plenty of flexibility to secure bookings.
Are the Jet Skis Approved?
Absolutely! All our fleet are in current survey and valid Safety Plan as per legal requirements from Maritime New Zealand
How many times can I book per month?
That depends on your membership plan. Each plan includes a set number of bookings—check your plan details for your specific allowance. However, a fair use policy applies. If the skis are available on the day and you want to head out, just get in touch and we can confirm it.
How does insurance work?
Comprehensive insurance is included with every booking. You’ll be responsible for the policy excess in the event of damage or an at-fault incident. If the damage is caused by reckless behaviour, prohibited actions or negligence and insurance isn’t accepted then you will be liable for all damages.
How do I collect and drop off a jet ski?
Simply arrive at the marina or designated pick-up point, complete a quick check-in, grab your kit and off you go! At the end of your session, return it to the same location, fill it up and wash it down and you’re all done
Can I keep the jet ski overnight?
Currently no unless specifically stated and confirmed by us for certain scenarios. Feel free to ask and we can discuss it
Am I restricted to where I can ride?
You’re free to ride within designated limits and local regulations. Long-distance or offshore use may be restricted for safety reasons—always check with us first. And keep an eye on the fuel levels!
Can I bring passengers?
Yes, passengers are welcome as long as the ski’s weight and safety limits are followed. They are your responsibility so any damage caused is your responsibility.
What if something goes wrong on the water?
All skis come with safety gear, and you’ll be briefed before each ride. In an emergency, you’ll have a VHF and phone to contact emergency services or to contact us if it’s acceptable. Only contact us when it is safe to do so.
What if I damage the jet ski?
Our insurance covers major incidents, but you’ll be liable for the excess and any costs related to negligence or unsafe behaviour. If the damage is caused by reckless behaviour, prohibited actions or negligence and insurance isn’t accepted then you will be liable for all damages.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Safety always comes first. If conditions are unsafe, or you are unsure then rethink your plans. We may cancel a booking if we think it is best. If in doubt, Sit it out.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?
Yes, you can adjust your membership level by contacting our team. There may be fees, limits and restrictions on how many times you switch to stop abuse.
Is safety equipment provided?
Absolutely. Lifejackets and required safety gear are included with every booking.
Can I book for special occasions?
Yes—whether it’s a birthday, group outing, or celebration, we can help you plan ahead and provide some nice ideas and pointers plus discounts on additional skis.
Can I visit any Islands in the Hauraki Gulf?
Sure! All commercial operators are required to obtain and hold a Pest Free Warrant from the Department of Conservation. This then allows you to visit the islands while protecting them and their natural beauty!
